Historic and modern

Graz is well known for combining historic and modern elements with the river Mur dividing the old town from the newer parts of the city. The Island in the Mur - built in 2003 and shaped like a half-open shell - houses a café and connects the old and the new. Wander through the narrow alleys of the old town, past by lovely shops, enchanting squares and cosy cafés with southern European flair. Continue in the direction of the Island in the Mur to get to the other side of the river, where modern Graz awaits you.
